Jackie studied at Cleveland College of Art and Design in Middlesbrough, where she was introduced to a plethora of art based subjects, from jewellery to textiles, pottery to photography. Feeling that she had only just scratched the surface and not wanting to commit to just one subject she opted for painting, Jackie continued her studies at Winchester School of Art.
After several relocations enforcing a considerable break she has returned to her first love, painting.

Finally settling in Pickering with the Moors and the Wolds on her doorstep means that the local landscape is becoming increasingly important as a source of inspiration. Using the shapes and rhythms found in the fields, roads and hedgerows Jackie produces work which is semi-abstract, strong in composition and colour. These elements feature throughout her work, whether it is landscape, still life or life drawing.
She also finds that experimenting with different media, and exploring their limits leads to interesting surface texture, although this work remains independent from more literal work the mergence of the two approaches is something she wants to include in her future work.
A commission to paint a 3ft x12ft image of the North Pole of Mars gave her the opportunity to use this method, opening up many possibilities for further exploration.
She has exhibited throughout the region and has been approached by galleries from further a field; she is a regular participant in the North Yorkshire Open Studios (previously Yorkshire Coast Open Studios) which took place in June.
